Have a holly, jolly holiday this December with a stacked lineup at new hotspot Schimanski in the heart of Williamsburg. From Berlin to Brooklyn, things heat up with the announcement of Marcel Dettmann for the club’s debut New Year’s Eve. The highly respected German DJ and producer has long been recognized as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. As resident DJ at the well-known, infamous Berlin nightclub Berghain, Dettmann has been on the cutting edge of nightlife and it’s a significant clubbing coup to have this international techno ambassador ring in the New Year here in Brooklyn.
Marcel Dettmann has recently mixed the latest edition of the highly respected 'DJ-Kicks' compilation series. Over 19 tracks, Dettmann reveals multiple new original productions; most notably a collaboration with Levon Vincent, ‘Can You See It’. Dettmann also collaborates with MDR affiliate Wincent Kunth on ’Possible Step’. In addition to five brand new original Dettmann remixes and edits, there’s an unreleased remix of Marcel’s ‘Let’s Do It’ from Ostgut Ton labelmate Rolando. Designed to be enjoyed by both the critics and more casual listeners, this mix is the latest in a long series of lifetime achievements over the course of Dettmann’s career – and with so many new unreleased original Marcel Dettmann productions included, this is a landmark release for the producer. Listen now on Spotify or Apple Music.
The rest of the month features house music mavens like Trus’meStudio Barnhus co-founders Axel Boman and Kornel Kovacs, and legendary Chicago stalwart Derrick Carter. The latter will headline the Future Disco Night in conjunction with Let’s Play House featuring Museum of Love (comprised of LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney together with Dennis McNany) and Jacques Renault. On the techier side of things Schimanksi brings you - technical wizard and prodigy James Zabiela, leftfield techno auteur Monoloc on the heels of the release of his second album, ‘The Untold Way’ on Dystopian, plus Detroit techno pioneer Juan Atkins, along with Delano Smith. Always adding a lot of color and late-night sparkle, NYC party personality Ladyfag presents The Closet - guaranteed to be as daring as the nightlife sorceress herself. All leading up to the grand finale end to 2016 with Marcel Dettmann bringing his brand of pure techno to herald the start of 2017.
