Made Event presents
Sébastien Léger (France)
With Sleepy & Boo
@ Cielo

Made Event presents French DJ and producer sensation Sébastien Léger at Cielo NYC with Sleepy & Boo on Friday, July 25th, 2008.

Over the last decade Sébastien Léger has become one of France’s most revered DJ/producers. Eschewing the more obvious French filter house clichés his productions have taken on the robust dancefloor edge of his beloved Chicago house heroes and twisted them into his own electronic masterpieces.

Parallel to building his international DJ career Sébastien Léger has also become one of the world’s most in demand remixers, working for artists such as Armand Van Helden, Kevin Saunderson, Jakatta, Paul Johnson and more recently turning in remixes for Dave Gahan, Kylie Minogue, Duran Duran, Groove Armada and Justin Timberlake. After his debut artist album Atomic Pop in 1999, which included a guest appearance by Junior Sanchez, Léger continues to remain focussed on developing his own sound via his own imprint Mistakes Music that is indelibly stamped with his trademark techno-funk sound.

As a consequence of his continued progression in his production work, the great variety of house music colour in his tracks, the construction and arrangement of his electro and funk-infused rhythms, the now Amsterdam based Sébastien Léger has established his position at the forefront of reconstructing contemporary electronic music. Garnering high praise for his recent debut on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix in May 2008, Sébastien Léger is well on his way to conquering dancefloors all over the world.

The 6th Annual Club World Awards 2008 Nominees Announced- Ceremony on March 26 at Set, Miami

Club World Awards
Club World and Plexi PR proudly present

The 6th Annual Club World Awards

2008 Nominees Announced

Ceremony on Wednesday, March 26 at Set, Miami

New York, NY The Club World Awards, the U.S.’s definitive nightlife awards program, is proud to announce its 2008 nominees, and details of this year’s event.

The invitation-only Club World Awards ceremony is set for Wednesday, March 26, at Set in South Beach, Miami. The show will once again celebrate excellence in North American nightlife, with the club and dance music industries’ brightest stars. Plus, it has a few new tricks up its sleeve.

To expand the breadth of the program, six new categories were added: Best Renovation for revived venues, Best One-Off for spectacular one-time club events, Best Bottle Service for the swank set, and three new People’s Choice categories which allow the public to reward excellence in club music.

Clubbers will again be invited to vote for their favorite local venue in the Nightstalker Award category – a staple of the CWA program since its inception – as well as in music categories Club Banger Of The Year (for instrumentals), Club Anthem Of The Year (for vocals), and Best DJ Set. Online dance music portal Beatport.com will host a Club World Awards page (beatportal.com/clubworldawards) with players, so voters can listen to all the nominated music, including a top 10 of tracks played by the DJs during their nominated sets (provided by them). The inaugural Best DJ Set nominees are BT, Justice, DJ Micro, Roger Sanchez, and Danny Tenaglia. Voting will be hosted on Partystrands.com, and will be live from February 18 through March 3.

Across the rest of the program, this year’s nominees reflect the gold standard of clubbing in key metropolitan cities, along with the usual surprises. Smart Bar Chicago will defend its Best Club title against newcomer BoMA (in the unlikely locale of Columbus, Ohio), two-time winner Cielo, splashy Jet, and celeb haunt Marquee. Last year’s CWA darling Pacha New York – which walked away with three disco globes – is nominated in seven categories, and will defend its Best Superclub title against heavyweight opponents: Avalon, Mansion, Pure and Peter Gatien’s Circa. The return of clubland’s most notorious operator garnered four nominations. Opium Group snagged eight, with five going to CWA host venue Set. Vegas-based Pure Management Group (PMG) grabbed eight nods, including three for Paradise Island hotspot Aura. In the Best New category, PMG is going up against itself, with noms for both Aura and Vegas mega-club LAX.

The Club World Awards ceremony always draws bold-face names from the nightlife-loving community including Danny Tenaglia, Tila Tequila, Deep Dish, Kelly Osbourne, Ferry Corsten, and James Zabiela; and coverage in Entertainment Weekly, New York Post, Time Out New York, Boston Herald, Las Vegas Weekly, Miami New Times and Forbes.com.

For the first time in CWA history, potential nominees were invited to submit entries online and final nominees were selected from that pool, rather than directly by the editors of sponsoring magazine Club World. Winners in non-People’s Choice categories are determined by a panel of 12 industry-veteran, expert judges.

The Club World Awards is presented by Club Word, the only magazine devoted to the look, sound and feel of nightclubs. Launched in July 2000, the monthly publication covers the world’s best venues from technical, business and aesthetic perspectives. It was renamed from Club Systems International in February 2008.

Made Event presents

D. RAMIREZ

with Sleepy & Boo

As featured in Time Out New York this week:

http://www.timeout.com/newyork/articles/clubs/26001/made-at-cielo

Made Event presents UK electrohouse sensation D. RAMIREZ with Basic NYC’s Sleepy & Boo at Cielo on Friday, February 1st, 2008.

Dean Marriott’s (aka D. Ramirez) first venture into production was in mid-90s with partner Neil Hinde, under the pseudonym Lisa Marie Experience. After a successful release of “Keep on Jumpin” (including a Top of the Pops appearance), Dean had a change of path and went from the commercial side of music down to the underground. Thus the D. Ramirez moniker was born. Since then labels such as Yoshitoshi, Choo Choo, Phonetic, Thrust, Junior, Whoop!, Lot 49, Four:Twenty and Toolroom have been clamoring for D.Ramirez material and producers such as Tom Stephan (Superchumbo), Deepgroove, Mark Knight, Max Linen and Meat Katie have all been lining up to work with him. His remix of Bodyrox “Yeah Yeah” was a bonafide breakout hit, reaching #2 in the UK national charts and #1 in Spain. In 2007, D. Ramirez was named DJ Mag’s Best British Producer and Best British Remix 2006 (for “Yeah Yeah”). His debut mix CD for the Ministry of Sound Sessions was an electro-house monster with tracks from Stephan Bodzin, Claude von Stroke and Oliver Huntemann as well as a selection of Ramirez’ own productions and remixes.

The new double CD Rewind / Fast Forward (Slave Recordings) mixed by D. Ramirez and his label prodigy Kristoph is stacked with D.Ramirez productions and remixes featuring exclusive, un-released & re-edited tracks including remixes of Roger Sanchez, Plump DJs, Ferry Corsten and Peace Division. It’s a fantastic collection of music that underlines the importance of his productions over the last decade. With a new artist album on the horizon and talks of a live show for next year, things aren’t letting up anytime soon.

FEBRUARY 2007: Dance. Here. Now… Better do it, or risk getting whacked as the Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello kills them on the dance floor like he does at his residencies at Pacha in Ibiza and Ministry of Sound, London . Steve’s signature acid house sound has helped bring Swedish producers to the forefront of dance music; check him out on Thursday, February 7th.

Kevin Hedge and Louie Vega’s uplifting dance party Roots is still going strong every Wednesday at Cielo. Of the renowned groups Blaze and Masters At Work respectively, these two men are living legends in clubland. Check them out each and every Wednesday.

Haven’t had enough yet? Return to Cielo on February 8th for the quarterly installment of LA’s Deep featuring Marques Wyatt. Wyatt is credited with bringing the deep, soulful sounds of New York house to Los Angeles in the mid-80’s. Check him out this weekend as he brings those beats back home to the right coast.

Chris Ryan and Fusion Group present the debut of their new party, Arctic Fusion, promising to revolutionize NYC nightlife. Brooklyn ’s own Larry Tee, with support from James Anderson, provide the soundtrack to an extravaganza complete with performers and musicians at every event. This innovative party, which promises to treat every patron like a VIP with concierge service, debuts Sunday February 10.

King Britt returns for a special all-night Deep Space set at the Cielo party of the same name on February 11th. This Monday night weekly promises adventures into future dub, spacey vibes and abstract grooves. The Philadelphia born DJ co-founded Ovum Records with Josh Wink but is now focusing on playing his smooth blend of organic soul to house lovers around the world. Deep Space will feature resident DJ Francois K on the 4th, 18th, and 25th, with a special opening set by T. Tauri the last Monday of the month.

Area Events brings Dutch DJ and producer Fedde le Grand to the decks at Cielo on February 21st. Best known for his ubiquitous single Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit, Fedde will be spinning his unique blend of house and electro for a rare NYC appearance.

Carl Craig starts off a new residency at Demon Day’s Valentine’s Day Bash. One of techno music’s most celebrated auteurs is finally getting the mainstream recognition he deserves. With a Grammy nod for his Junior Boys remix, a performance of his composition “Technology” at Carnegie Hall last month, and a career retrospective coming out on !K7 in February, Craig seems set to take over the world in 2008. Share this special day with us, Thursday February 14th.

Saturday February 16th is Paradizo, one of Cielo’s signature party nights. Special guest DJ Olivier from Amnesia, Ibiza , joins Cielo and summertime Pacha Ibiza resident Willie Graff for a much-needed dose of the magical island during this NYC winter. No work Monday? Sunday night the 17th legendary DJ Junior Vasquez hits the decks for his monthly residency.

Finally, celebrate the extra day this month on Thursday February 28th (into the 29th) with Mistress Barbara and the highly anticipated NYC debut of Cobblestone Jazz (live). Mistress Barbara, the first lady of Techno needs no introduction; she has been a fixture since bursting onto the scene in the late 90’s.
