What is there that can be said about the international superstar Will.i.am that isn’t already known around the world.  Widely recognized as the frontman of the multi platinum hip hop group, The Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am is a true pop music hitmaker who also happens to be an avid follower and lover of dance music culture.  The group’s latest album “The E.N.D.” for which they received 6 Grammy Nominations and entered Billboard’s Top 200 album chart at number 1 and spent 26 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 chart with “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling”.   The album featured production from such established dance music figures as Mark Knight and, of course, David Guetta.  The Guetta produced “I Gotta Feeling” immediately became a worldwide anthem, holding the top chart position for 14 weeks.  Since then, Will.I.Am has been featured on another Guetta bomb “I Wanna Go Crazy”, as well as material from the likes of Boys Noize, Fedde le Grand, and Steve Aoki.  With the popularity of the hip hop and electronic hybrid sound seemingly increasing by the day, one will be hard pressed to find a figure more responsible for its rise then Will.i.am.  The self described “electro” DJ first played Pacha NYC back in November 2009 to a capacity crowd. With a line around the block and a few high profile surprise guests, New York’s only super club provided the perfect venue for his unique brand of mash ups, edits, electro-house, live MCing and multiple other DJ tricks.  Fresh back from headlining David Guetta’s infamous F*** Me I’m Famous party with Afrojack at Pacha Ibiza, the 7 time Grammy award winner returns to New York for an event not to be missed!

Playing alongside Will.i.am is a DJ who is no stranger to dance music success.  Grammy nominated remixer/ producer Richard Vission has been rocking dance floors around the world for over a decade now.   The Los Angeles native has remixed the likes of Radiohead, U2, The Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Prince, Lady Gaga and David Bowie, as well as put out a stream of successful original productions like “Somebody”, “Never Be Alone” and his latest collaboration with Static Revenger “I Like That”. With eight successful studio albums under his belt, André Tanneberger has long since proved his talent as an artist. Yet he is so much more than a mere producer and songwriter. This August, ATB lands in Las Vegas  to offer music enthusiasts a unique and sensory experience for 4 exclusive nights as he takes over the Perfecto residency for Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Vegas inside Rain Nightclub at the Palms Hotel every Saturday night.  ATB will serve this exclusive U.S. residency this summer, allowing partygoers to discover firsthand the unique electronic sounds and melodious club tracks that have made him a successful icon in the DJ and club industry since his solo breakthrough 12 years ago.  During this time, ATB plays in six additional U.S cities, including New York’s electronic music festival – Electric Zoo, along with fellow headliners The Chemical Brothers and Armin van Buuren.

In the world of Above & Beyond there’s only ever one way — up. In the last few years alone, the UK based production/DJ trio have debuted their full live show in front of 8,000 fans in Beirut, played to 1 million people on a beach in Rio de Janiero and even been chosen to soundtrack the unveiling of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo. Not once, however, have they or their Anjunabeats label rested on their laurels. 

Across a span of over 170 releases, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint has grown from humble beginnings to become a global standard-bearer for trance and melodic electronic music. The two-disc Anjunabeats Volume 8 compilation is exactly how trance in 2010 should be. A journey showcasing the full spectrum of Above & Beyond’s sound, the compilation takes in electro-influenced grooves, deeper trance and hypnotic progressive textures alongside their trademark euphoric anthems.

The anticipation for the 2010 edition of Electric Zoo continues to build with a lineup stacked full of electronic music heavyweights ready to descend on New York’s Randall’s Island Park this Labor Day weekend on September 4 & 5, 2010.  With a lineup that features headlining sets from The Chemical Brothers and Armin van Buuren and a who’s who of the world’s top DJs and electronic music artists, Electric Zoo is proud to announce the latest group of artists set to play New York’s biggest electronic music festival.  On Saturday, electronic hip-hop fusion outfit Pretty Lights provides a raucous headlining live performance. Made Event presents the return of dance music Renaissance man Dave Dresden to Cielo on Friday, June 25th, 2010.

For nearly 20 years, Dave Dresden has had his hands full in all aspects of the dance music industry.  Starting as a music journalist and radio host, Dresden was an instrumental figure in introducing some of dance music’s biggest names to American audiences during the 1990’s.  Now known as a DJ/Remixer/Producer/Collaborator extraordinaire, Dresden has recently formed his second trailblazing collaborative project.  Responsible for some of the biggest and most recognizable club hits of the last decade, Dave Dresden continues to show the passion for music which brought him to the apex of the industry.

In 2001 Dresden partnered with Josh Gabriel and formed the DJ/production duo, Gabriel & Dresden. Shortly after, the duo gained international recognition by way of their remix work on tracks from Tiesto, Way Out West, and Above & Beyond, as well as more pop influenced tracks from Dido and Jewel. During the duo’s time together they amassed 18 #1 positioned singles and remixes on Billboard’s Club Play Chart including the worldwide smash “As the Rush Comes”.  By 2007 the duo was recognized by the IDMA’s as Best U.S DJs, and then again the following year.

As a solo artist, Dresden’s exhibited the same determination he possessed during the early stages of his career and has successfully remixed work from a wide spectrum of artists from The Killers, Annie Lennox and Sarah McLachlan to Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, and Radiohead.  Now, he has a new collaboration with former Mephisto Odyssey frontman Mikael Johnston.  Already releasing several successful remixes for the likes of Lily Allen, BT, and Crystal Method – Dresden & Johnston are now hard at work on their first full length album.  Their club smash single “Keep Faith” has been steadily climbing the Beatport charts and they are set to release their latest double A side “The Cove / Redhead” on their own Problem Child Rekords, inspired by Rick O’Berry’s moving dolphin conservation documentary – The Cove.  In addition, their work with vocal powerhouse Nadia Ali has been generating serious buzz with inclusions on upcoming compilations from Armin van Buuren and Menno de Jong.  The duo is also set to unveil a new live show incorporating elements of DJing, remixing, and live instrumentation in support of their new material.

AGORIA ‘BALANCE 016′ NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES

Hot off the heels of his acclaimed Balance series edition and a successful Winter Music Conference debut, forward-thinking Frenchman Agoria is set to embark on his North American tour as he makes his way to the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit. With his recent spell-binding DJ sets at the Balance 16: Agoria release party and at the infamous Sunday School For Degenerates party in Miami, Agoria is now ready to bring his distinct track selection and mixing style to some of North America’s most forward thinking venues. Kicking off in New York City, with stops in Windsor, Detroit, and El Paso, the tour culminates with a much anticipated main stage performance at the10th anniversary of the electronic music festival in Detroit.

Agoria, otherwise known as Sebastien Devaud wasn’t bitten by the dance music bug until he was out of his teens, but once he began hunting imported 12”s from the US and Germany in his native France, there was no turning back. His production career began in 1999, with his debut album Blossom and first compilation following in 2003 – and it was clear even in those early days that a serious new talent was emerging. Blending the throb and groove of deeper, stripped-back techno with a keen sense of musicality, emotion and atmosphere, his is a sound that transcends beyond mere dancefloor disposability. His 2007 At The Controls compilation set a new standard for minimal tech-house with its impeccable programming and seductive mixing.

2010 has marked a banner year for Agoria with the release of Balance 016. After raising the bar to unprecedented heights in 2009 with Joris Voorn and Will Saul’s stunning additions to the Balance series, Agoria provides yet another standard-setting mix from one of the most sophisticated, forward thinking, and inspiring names in techno. “The concept of both CDs is all about balance. Randall’s Island Park has long enjoyed its position as a recreational hub for Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs for over half a century.  Centrally located on the banks of the East River, it is easily accessible from all points by car, bus, bicycle, pedestrian and ferry.  With plenty of acreage of grass to dance, chill and roam along with some of the city’s most stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, Randall’s Island is no doubt the perfect venue for the Electric Zoo festival.  With every ticket sold, a $2 donation goes toward the beautification of Randall’s Island through environmental art and stewardship.

Made Event welcomes the Spanish techno conquistador Paco Osuna back to New York along with Argentine techno wonderkid and Minus favorite Barem at Cielo on Friday, May 28th, 2010.

Paco Osuna’s hard, driving brand of techno fuses tribal percussive beats alongside the more surgical sounds associated with the acclaimed Minus label. He’s known for three-deck sets of dark synth rhythms and talent for driving any dancefloor crazy with variations in rhythmic tension.  Osuna began his rise to prominence in 1999 with a residency at the famed Ibizan hotspot Amnesia. Then, in 2006 he created Barcelona’s Club4, which brought the likes of Carl Cox, Marco Carola, and Matthew Dear to its DJ booth. That same year, he created his own label Mindshake, which released material from artists like Paul Ritch, Ambivalent and Andrea Ferlin. His skills have also entered him to the Plus8 ranks, including two Plastikman remixes for the label’s 100th release.

Barem perfectly personifies the new breed of electronic musician.   Growing up entirely in the digital age, he fully utilizes intuitive software programs to spontaneously express ideas and emotions. In 2005, Barem was introduced to Minus boss Richie Hawtin, which eventually led to the debut of his well received EP Never Better Then Late. Listening to the EP, it’s clear he concentrates most of his energy into creating powerful basslines that define his sound. His expansive use of reverb and delay creates a massive space for the subtle percussive elements to skip and snake while distant, sometimes eerie melodies often occur on a random, secondary level as a result of these interacting elements. For Barem, the bottom line is to keep things simple and stay true to the old school minimalist approach that first got him hooked on the music.

Through his natural audience affinity, flawless mixing and innate tune selection, Markus Schulz has wowed crowds in every major area of the world for over a decade. Though an active DJ and producer during the 1990’s, it was not until the 2000’s when he began to reach mass audiences with his, now trademark, trance sound. Now a regular fixture at the world’s most famous clubs, arenas and festivals, Schulz lays down his unique musical vision on a weekly basis. In Europe, he has smashed events like Trance Energy, Nature One, Dance Valley, Creamfields and Global Gathering. At home in the USA, he has graced the decks of the colossal Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Festivals, as well as the inaugural Electric Zoo.  After several significant showings in the Top 100 DJs chart, he now ranks as one of the top 10 DJs in the world.

On top of his globetrotting tour schedule, Markus manages to broadcast his weekly radio show, the Global DJ Broadcast.  The show puts a spotlight on Schulz dark, melodic trance sound on over 50 stations worldwide.  Now in its fifth year, the show has continued to be a beacon for an always-growing throng of trance & progressive dance fans.   His label Coldharbour Recordings also provides Schulz with a platform to release his own material as well as work from some of progressive music’s most gifted producers.  Now on the threshold of its 100th release “Dark Heart Waiting”, Coldharbour has firmly established itself as a premier destination for quality trance and progressive music.

Now, after 18 months of studio sessions, Schulz is set to release Do You Dream, the follow up to his 2007 acclaimed artist album Progression.  Since the earliest days of his label, fans and critics alike have seen Schulz as both the leading-light pioneer and ultimate standard-bearer of trance’s new wave. The album instantly absorbs the listener back into that world, delivering a masterful start-to-finish audio experience.  From the first track Do You Dream charts a tightly-plotted course uniquely his own, embracing housey percussion, swirling atmospheric progressive, drum & bass-ish bass lines, stunningly-cultivated vibrant trance riffs and a myriad of other sounds, effects and minutiae styles.  The album features some of the scene’s finest vocalists including Jennifer Rene, Justine Suissa, and Ana Criado and contains tracks which have been highlights of Markus Schulz sets since 2008, like “The New World”, “Perception”, and the album’s title track.  You can also check out Markus’ sound on his latest mix for April’s DJ Magazine, which marks the 15th anniversary of UK clubbing institution The Gallery.
