Drumcode Tour

Made Event presents the Drumcode Tour featuring a double-header of Swedish techno masters, Adam Beyer and special guest Joel Mull at Cielo on Thursday, October 9th, 2008.

Adam Beyer has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, which has quite literally shaken the world since the mid-nineties. His prolific Drumcode label continues its adventures into techno as they approach their 50th landmark release. Recent 12″ recordings include techno hammers from Marco Bailey & Tom Hades (DC44), Dustin Zahn (DC45), The Advent Vs Industrialyzer (DC45, 46.5) and upcoming release by Tony Rohr (DC47). From the driving percussive force of his Drumcode label to the more open electronic miasma on his current Truesoul and Mad Eye imprints, Beyer remains one of the biggest and most influential producer/DJs on the planet. Ever keen to continually evolve and develop, his three studio albums ‘Decoded’ (Planet Rhythm, 1996), ‘Protection’ (Drumcode, 1999) and ‘Ignition Key’ (Truesoul, 2002) aptly show the Swedes studio development from raw diamond to the polished article.  With such a melting pot of electronic styles, Beyer has more recently set up a new imprint for a more stripped down and minimal sound, Mad Eye.  The label heralds a new subtle, more production focused slant inspired largely by Beyer’s experiences in Ibiza over the past several years.

Joel Mull started traveling around the globe more than a decade ago and quickly made himself well known as the “Swedish Techno Soul” of the electronic world.  Both Mull and Beyer are long time friends, colleagues, and collaborators.  Additionally, Mull has had a residency spot on the “Drumcode” label parties that Adam has been taking on the road over the past six years.  In 2007 Joel Mull had a string of releases and collaborations with artists such as Sean Palm, Xpansul and Vincenzo, Audiomatique, and Discos De Lata.  However, his most important release to date is his highly regarded artist album ‘The Observer’ (Harthouse, 2007).  Recently, Joel Mull returned to Saved Records, the highly respected and admired independent label of Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley, and has created the ‘Face Up’ EP which has already garnered support from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and Christian Smith, to name a few.

MARINE PARADE

ADAM FREELAND
Special Guest Z-TRIP
ALEX METRIC
STA

Label boss and head honcho himself, Adam Freeland leads the Marine Parade with the label’s newest signing, 26 year old breakbeat wunderkind Alex Metric and blogger’s favorite Sta. Along with special guest Z-Trip, the founding father of the mash-up movement. Adam recently released his astounding new E.P “Hate”, of all original material and is slated to release his sophomore artist album entitled “How To Fake Your Own Life”, due out in June.

2008 looks to be the label’s strongest year yet: with greatly-anticipated full-lengths expected from Adam Freeland and Evil Nine and the storming debut album from Alex Metric, Marine Parade enters its second decade right where it began: on the forward edge of the most groundbreaking music, circa now.

DRUMCODE

ADAM BEYER
JOEL MULL
PÄR GRINDVIK (Live)
KYLE GEIGER
IDA ENGBERG

Since the mid-90s, Swedish techno pioneer Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, with Beyer and Joel Mull forming the nexus of the Swedish Techno mafia. Joined by Pär Grindvik, newly anointed ‘Producer of 2007’ by Beyer, his live sets are inspired by memories and music from the past, combined with the future of techno. Another techno upstart is Indiana-based producer Kyle Geiger, the first American to release on Drumcode and named Beyer’s “Breakthrough DJ of 2008.” Rounding out the techno testosterone is the eclectic Ida Engberg. Together these artists have evolved from the harder, percussive stylings of the late 90′s Swedish Techno sound and continue to bridge the gap into the future of the modern Techno sound.

In 2008, Beyer is planning to take Drumcode to the next level with more shows and promotion with a string of releases and remixes on Drumcode and sub-label Truesoul from the likes of Perc, Joey Beltram, Len Faki, 2000 and One, Paco Osuna, Kyle Geiger, Hardcell, Pär Grindvik, Ortin Cam, Smith & Selway, Raudive, Patrik Skoog, Museum, Nihad Tule, JPLS, Martinez and Cirez D.

FREESTYLERS
DEEKLINE & WIZARD LIVE

Renowned UK breakbeat act Stanton Warriors bring together the UK heavyweights for an intimate Saturday night session. Their latest release “The Remixes” features a collection of their remixes of artists who were important to the UK Garage and Electronic scenes, including cuts from Alter Ego, Apollo 440, Gorillaz, Fatboy Slim, Layo & Bushwacka, Basement Jaxx and many others.

The Freestylers are exactly as their name suggests, a heady blend of brash, hip-hop-inspired grooves resulting in a hypersonic amalgamation that knows no barriers. They have been storming with their new mash-up “Push Up Word Up” out on Ministry of Sound this year. The dancefloor-destroying duo Deekline & Wizard blend together live scratching with a hip hop approach to mixing for a truly one-of-a-kind performance.
