ABOVE & BEYOND: ANJUNABEATS VOLUME 8 + TOUR DATES

July 14th, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ABOVE & BEYOND
ANJUNABEATS VOLUME 8
(July 20, Ultra Records)

In the world of Above & Beyond there’s only ever one way — up. In the last few years alone, the UK based production/DJ trio have debuted their full live show in front of 8,000 fans in Beirut, played to 1 million people on a beach in Rio de Janiero and even been chosen to soundtrack the unveiling of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo. Not once, however, have they or their Anjunabeats label rested on their laurels.

Across a span of over 170 releases, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint has grown from humble beginnings to become a global standard-bearer for trance and melodic electronic music. Now, more than ever, it is is synonymous with a quality control that is all too lacking in today’s quick-fix digital age.

The two-disc Anjunabeats Volume 8 compilation is exactly how trance in 2010 should be. A journey showcasing the full spectrum of Above & Beyond’s sound, the compilation takes in electro-influenced grooves, deeper trance and hypnotic progressive textures alongside their trademark euphoric anthems.

Above & Beyond themselves offer a taste of their long awaited second artist album through the instant, emotional highlight ‘A Thing Called Love’, while their debut collaboration with respected German duo Kyau & Albert (‘Anphonic’) provides a driving, upbeat club monster that will be sending message boards, clubs and stadia crazy for months to come.

With over 20 separate artists featured, Anjunabeats Volume 8 is also a testament to the vital transatlantic family that the label now represents. Ascendant talents like Arty, Aruna and 7 Skies inspire fresh excitement. Andrew Bayer’s trio of deep, genre-blurring productions mark him out as one of the most exciting names to come through the ranks since Mat Zo, who himself features through his remix of ‘Live Forever’ by Lange feat. Emma Hewitt.

There’s welcome room, of course, for long-standing Anjuna favourites like Oliver Smith, Nitrous Oxide and Super8 & Tab who make a double apprearance ahead of their debut artist album and unleash their most accomplished creations yet. In the beautifully crafted ‘Piece Of Me’, the Danish Daniel Kandi has another timeless classic in the making and Dutchman Bart Claessen offers the magically climbing ’90 Nights Of Summer’. Volume 8 also heralds the first Anjuna release by Duderstadt with ‘Stranded in NYC’ plus new Anjuna signings Parker & Hanson, Thomas Datt and Who.Is, a collaborative project from Bart Claessen and Raz Nitzan.

Put simply, the mix is a snapshot of the future. The future of Above & Beyond, the future of the Anjunabeats family and the future of trance.

Above & Beyond Anjunabeats Volume 8 is out July 20th on Ultra Records.

Made Event presents DAVE DRESDEN @ Cielo – June 25th

June 14th, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friday, June 25th, 2010
Made Event presents
DAVE DRESDEN
with Zach Roth
@ Cielo

Made Event presents the return of dance music Renaissance man Dave Dresden to Cielo on Friday, June 25th, 2010.

For nearly 20 years, Dave Dresden has had his hands full in all aspects of the dance music industry.  Starting as a music journalist and radio host, Dresden was an instrumental figure in introducing some of dance music’s biggest names to American audiences during the 1990’s.  Now known as a DJ/Remixer/Producer/Collaborator extraordinaire, Dresden has recently formed his second trailblazing collaborative project.  Responsible for some of the biggest and most recognizable club hits of the last decade, Dave Dresden continues to show the passion for music which brought him to the apex of the industry.

In 2001 Dresden partnered with Josh Gabriel and formed the DJ/production duo, Gabriel & Dresden. Shortly after, the duo gained international recognition by way of their remix work on tracks from Tiesto, Way Out West, and Above & Beyond, as well as more pop influenced tracks from Dido and Jewel. During the duo’s time together they amassed 18 #1 positioned singles and remixes on Billboard’s Club Play Chart including the worldwide smash “As the Rush Comes”.  By 2007 the duo was recognized by the IDMA’s as Best U.S DJs, and then again the following year.

As a solo artist, Dresden’s exhibited the same determination he possessed during the early stages of his career and has successfully remixed work from a wide spectrum of artists from The Killers, Annie Lennox and Sarah McLachlan to Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, and Radiohead.  Now, he has a new collaboration with former Mephisto Odyssey frontman Mikael Johnston.  Already releasing several successful remixes for the likes of Lily Allen, BT, and Crystal Method – Dresden & Johnston are now hard at work on their first full length album.  Their club smash single “Keep Faith” has been steadily climbing the Beatport charts and they are set to release their latest double A side “The Cove / Redhead” on their own Problem Child Rekords, inspired by Rick O’Berry’s moving dolphin conservation documentary – The Cove.  In addition, their work with vocal powerhouse Nadia Ali has been generating serious buzz with inclusions on upcoming compilations from Armin van Buuren and Menno de Jong.  The duo is also set to unveil a new live show incorporating elements of DJing, remixing, and live instrumentation in support of their new material.

Chuckie has been making a name for himself around the world by putting his signature deep, dirty house sound on remixes for David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and Joachim Gaurraud. His talent for building insanely intense climaxes, then delivering devastatingly explosive beats, is no child’s play. Killer original tracks like “Let The Bass Kick” have launched him into the top 10 British Singles Charts and won him praise from Swedish House Mafia, Laidback Luke and Pete Tong. In summer 2008, David Guetta handpicked Chuckie to play at his event at Pacha in Ibiza, saying “he is mixing the hip-hop vibe with house music like no one else!” Chuckie has won numerous accolades, including the Dutch TMF “Best Dance DJ” Award last year, for which he beat out super DJs Tiësto and Armin Van Buuren. This year, he also won the inaugural Best Remix Data Award in L.A. for his remix of David Guetta’s “Sexy Bitch.”

In 2005, Chuckie created the now-legendary, always sold-out “Dirty Dutch” house music event, attended by over thirty thousand music lovers. Dirty Dutch made its WMC debut at Cameo in Miami this year, featuring Chuckie himself, Estelle, Afrojack and Sidney Samson (among others), and he plans to bring the party to selected cities around the globe. Indeed, Chuckie is taking over the U.S. in 2010 with a freshly inked multi-album deal with Atlantic Records and work with stars like Jermaine Dupri, P. Diddy, Lil Jon, Toni Braxton and Akon.

AGORIA ‘BALANCE 016′ NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES + MOVEMENT 2010 MAIN STAGE PEFORMANCE

May 12th, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Agoria North American Tour

AGORIA ‘BALANCE 016′ NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES
Including, Movement Electronic Music Festival – Main Stage Performance

Hot off the heels of his acclaimed Balance series edition and a successful Winter Music Conference debut, forward-thinking Frenchman Agoria is set to embark on his North American tour as he makes his way to the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit. With his recent spell-binding DJ sets at the Balance 16: Agoria release party and at the infamous Sunday School For Degenerates party in Miami, Agoria is now ready to bring his distinct track selection and mixing style to some of North America’s most forward thinking venues. Kicking off in New York City, with stops in Windsor, Detroit, and El Paso, the tour culminates with a much anticipated main stage performance at the10th anniversary of the electronic music festival in Detroit.

Agoria, otherwise known as Sebastien Devaud wasn’t bitten by the dance music bug until he was out of his teens, but once he began hunting imported 12”s from the US and Germany in his native France, there was no turning back. His production career began in 1999, with his debut album Blossom and first compilation following in 2003 – and it was clear even in those early days that a serious new talent was emerging. Blending the throb and groove of deeper, stripped-back techno with a keen sense of musicality, emotion and atmosphere, his is a sound that transcends beyond mere dancefloor disposability. His 2007 At The Controls compilation set a new standard for minimal tech-house with its impeccable programming and seductive mixing.

2010 has marked a banner year for Agoria with the release of Balance 016. After raising the bar to unprecedented heights in 2009 with Joris Voorn and Will Saul’s stunning additions to the Balance series, Agoria provides yet another standard-setting mix from one of the most sophisticated, forward thinking, and inspiring names in techno. “The concept of both CDs is all about balance. Literally. In my mind a balance is not a middle position; it’s a perfect equilibrium. I’m trying to be as close as possible to this idea. I have tried to find this fine line where the balance is just right.” To accomplish this perfectly-weighted contrast, he’s cherry-picked from a myriad of genres and subgenres in his “beat open-minded” fashion, combining a wealth of material from newcomers across the spectrum (including no less than 12 exclusives!) with more established producers, classics and unknown gems from his broad musical past, and put it all together in an unconventional, challenging manner. “In the end, more than a DJ compilation, this is a manifesto of my passion for music and for mixing” he explains. Balance 016: Agoria has been hailed as the compilation of the month by several publications including IDJ Magazine, Tillate Magazine, Raveline, Tsugi, DMC, Inpress, 3D, Time Off. This superb compilation is as deep and rewarding as a well-woven novel, the dénouement of the story unfolding as the mix evolves through Agoria’s musical DNA. Yet another essential addition to the compilation series that is fast becoming the new benchmark for ambitious DJs and demanding listeners alike.

Serious dance music fans know the “Balance” label CD series provides some of the most stunning sonic journeys that progressive house and techno has to offer. Recent masterpieces include creative sets by Joris Voorn and Will Saul, but the latest release by Agoria, a French DJ also known as Sebastien Devaud, might top them all.

In running through a ton of genres from blessed out ambience to emo-tech via chugging techno and dark house, ‘Balance 16’ is pregnant with emotion and stuffed with drama.” –DJ Mag
