It’s the album the entire dance scene has been waiting for. After months of hard work and creativity, the number one DJ in the world delivers his fourth artist album. Armin van Buuren is proud to present to you: Mirage.  Initial pre-sales have already pushed Mirage into the US iTunes Top 5 Dance Albums chart, and the first single “Full Focus” has drawn widespread acclaim from DJs and fans alike – all leading up to one of the most anticipated releases of the year on September 14th (with a special pre-release on iTunes September 10th).

Says Armin of his newest work, “Mirage has been the biggest project I’ve ever worked on. There are so many hours in this. Work started two years ago when I actually built a completely new studio for this project. Many new techniques were used and most of all I had so much fun creating this with the many people that are involved. It was a journey, an epic one!”

As the first single of the album, Armin chose “Full Focus”, an instrumental track set to fill arenas and clubs while scorching across the festival terrains set up for the summer of 2010. The accompanying high-energy video is an epic performance filmed at Armin’s “A State Of Trance 450” nights, right during the time he was finalizing the album.

Mirage reveals a side of Armin his fans haven’t heard yet, and takes in its listeners with new and surprising collaborations. Within the 2 years of endless jamming and producing, Armin worked with dance music icons Ferry Corsten, BT, and Josh Gabriel, along with the talents of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Nadia Ali, Guy Chambers, Christian Burns and Adam Young of Owl City.

Inspired and influenced by many different types of music, Mirage is more diverse than any other Armin album before. His collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, ‘Not Giving Up On Love’ is a perfect example of that, combining the best of both worlds. Armin says, “The Nervo Sisters, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and me met up to write the vocals for ‘Not Giving Up On Love’. I was thrilled to work with them on this. We gave it a more analog feel with some real drums, to give it a pop-rock feel. We also put a piano top line on the track and then the vocals of Sophie, which I think is a win. It’s a lush summer tune with an epic vocal that gets stuck in your head and cheers you up!”

Mirage is filled with musical fusions and surprising interpretations, from the orchestral masterpiece of title track “Mirage”, the deep trance track “I Don’t Own You” and housey “Feels So Good” to the eerie “Take A Moment” and feel-good “Drowning”. These 16 tracks highlight how Armin has matured as an artist.

Armin’s A State Of Trance radio show claims over 10 million listeners weekly, and its podcast version is downloaded over 50,000 times. He also co-founded and heads the seminal trance label Armada Music, which hosts a variety of top international superstars, as well as 27 sub-labels, all respected around the world.

Throughout his career, Armin’s tour schedule has typified the international DJ elite, headlining the largest festivals, while also packing the hottest clubs. This September, Armin is touring North America for select dates to celebrate the album release, including his second consecutive headlining performance at New York City’s massive Electric Zoo Festival on September 5th, 2010.

From his first electronic band Chaotic Sound Matrix, to his major contributions to the early productions of Deep Dish; from his first success in the techno world as part of the seminal New York duo Disintegrator to the most successful of his collaborations, Smith & Selway, and his deep and minimal techno label CSM; from the intelligent electro-funk of Synapse and Serotonin Records, the electro and synth-pop of Memory Boy to the wild improvisational eclecticism of the Rancho Relaxo Allstars, Selway has created and helped to create one of the most stylistically wide ranging bodies of work in the world of electronic dance music.Selway recently joined Dubspot’s staff of distinguished instructors as Ableton Certified Trainer.

Patrick Cupo is an awarding winning music educator, professional studio musician, and the Director of Online Curriculum for Dubspot. He is an Ableton expert with 12 years of teaching experience ranging from private lessons to graduate school lectures.  Patrick started one of the world’s largest and best Ableton education programs at Pershing Middle School in Houston, Texas.  He and his students won the 2010 MENC/NSBA Electronic Music Composition Talent Search in the Middle School category.

Brian Jackson was one of the very first Ableton Certified Trainers on the planet. He is the author of 3 tutorial DVDs on Ableton Live and tech editor for the Live 7 & 8 Power! books (among others) for Cengage Learning. Brian also regularly works as a creative-technical consultant for companies (e.g., Ableton and Access) and individuals (including multiple Grammy nominees/winners). Specializing in Mac-based digital audio, Brian started using Pro Tools in 1996. He is also a professional audio engineer (mixing and mastering), and brings to Dubspot more than eight years of teaching experience from various audio engineering schools in Manhattan.In 1999 Brian received an MA in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Prior to relocating from SF to NYC in 2002, he also worked for Harmony-Central.com and Rocket Network (now DigiDelivery). Currently, his studio is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Aaron “Taylor” Kuffner, better known as Zemi17, is a Brooklyn based composer, producer, musician, DJ and media artist.  He is the co-creator, and art director of the Gamelatron: the world’s first and only fully robotic gamelan orchestra.  He is the resident DJ for the legendary Danger events, based in Brooklyn. He formed the experimental multi-media theater group Ransom Corp in 1997, founded the 23 Windows Collective community arts studio in Brooklyn in 2001 and co-created and curated The Resonant Wave Experimental Multi Media Art Festival in Berlin in 2002.  He was a guest composer at Theater Thikwa for mentally disabled adults in Berlin in 2003.  In addition to years of musical research in Java and Bali supported by the Indonesian government, Zemi17 has toured extensively throughout the US and Europe both as a DJ, theater composer and director, and most recently with the Gamelatron as a signature installation at Portugal’s Boom Festival.

Tony Grund has been involved in music all over the world, from Florida and New York, to London and Japan. He uses his classical background and training to bring a unique sound to his productions, and is constantly exploring new ideas in music and multimedia art. Tony isone of the founding members of ambient/rock band echo stream, and also DJs around New York City and the east coast.

Dave Linnenbank boasts a decade-plus of experience with MaxMSP in all its various guises, in addition to his work as a musician and teacher. Dave’s migration in his teenage years from acoustic instruments to the world of synthesis began a life spent working with electronic music technology. His first use of Max was making controllable video pieces to accompany ambient songs in performance. Since then, Dave has used Max for a wide variety of audio and video applications, from editing and generating MIDI, to creating plug-ins and custom audio tools for music production for the recently-released bundle of Max For Live devices (Max Fuel, the First) from puremagnetik.com.

What is there that can be said about the international superstar Will.i.am that isn’t already known around the world.  Widely recognized as the frontman of the multi platinum hip hop group, The Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am is a true pop music hitmaker who also happens to be an avid follower and lover of dance music culture.  The group’s latest album “The E.N.D.” for which they received 6 Grammy Nominations and entered Billboard’s Top 200 album chart at number 1 and spent 26 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 chart with “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling”.   The album featured production from such established dance music figures as Mark Knight and, of course, David Guetta.  The Guetta produced “I Gotta Feeling” immediately became a worldwide anthem, holding the top chart position for 14 weeks.  Since then, Will.I.Am has been featured on another Guetta bomb “I Wanna Go Crazy”, as well as material from the likes of Boys Noize, Fedde le Grand, and Steve Aoki.  With the popularity of the hip hop and electronic hybrid sound seemingly increasing by the day, one will be hard pressed to find a figure more responsible for its rise then Will.i.am.  The self described “electro” DJ first played Pacha NYC back in November 2009 to a capacity crowd. The anticipation for the 2010 edition of Electric Zoo continues to build with a lineup stacked full of electronic music heavyweights ready to descend on New York’s Randall’s Island Park this Labor Day weekend on September 4 & 5, 2010.  With a lineup that features headlining sets from The Chemical Brothers and Armin van Buuren and a who’s who of the world’s top DJs and electronic music artists, Electric Zoo is proud to announce the latest group of artists set to play New York’s biggest electronic music festival.  On Saturday, electronic hip-hop fusion outfit Pretty Lights provides a raucous headlining live performance. Other additions include UK’s veritable Radio 1 tastemaker Pete Tong, the future of Swedish house, rising star Avicii, UK’s certified electro hitmaker Fake Blood, two of France’s prized dance exports Joachim Garraud and electro minimalist Popof, and Germany’s techno maestro Reboot.  Stay tuned for the final announcement of acts to be added to this electric lineup as we count down the days!

SIRIUS XM’s Area channel will launch a new weekly show Electric Zoo Radio in anticipation of this year’s Electric Zoo Festival. The new limited-run weekly show will launch with an exclusive set from Grammy®-nominated DJ and producer Paul van Dyk on Thursday, June 17th at 8pm ET. Every Thursday leading up to the two-day Electric Zoo Festival, Electric Zoo Radio will showcase DJ sets and interviews with artists who are scheduled to appear at the festival. Made Event presents the return of dance music Renaissance man Dave Dresden to Cielo on Friday, June 25th, 2010.

For nearly 20 years, Dave Dresden has had his hands full in all aspects of the dance music industry.  Starting as a music journalist and radio host, Dresden was an instrumental figure in introducing some of dance music’s biggest names to American audiences during the 1990’s.  Now known as a DJ/Remixer/Producer/Collaborator extraordinaire, Dresden has recently formed his second trailblazing collaborative project.  Responsible for some of the biggest and most recognizable club hits of the last decade, Dave Dresden continues to show the passion for music which brought him to the apex of the industry.

In 2001 Dresden partnered with Josh Gabriel and formed the DJ/production duo, Gabriel & Dresden. Shortly after, the duo gained international recognition by way of their remix work on tracks from Tiesto, Way Out West, and Above & Beyond, as well as more pop influenced tracks from Dido and Jewel. During the duo’s time together they amassed 18 #1 positioned singles and remixes on Billboard’s Club Play Chart including the worldwide smash “As the Rush Comes”.  By 2007 the duo was recognized by the IDMA’s as Best U.S DJs, and then again the following year.

As a solo artist, Dresden’s exhibited the same determination he possessed during the early stages of his career and has successfully remixed work from a wide spectrum of artists from The Killers, Annie Lennox and Sarah McLachlan to Paul Oakenfold, Madonna, and Radiohead.  Now, he has a new collaboration with former Mephisto Odyssey frontman Mikael Johnston.  Already releasing several successful remixes for the likes of Lily Allen, BT, and Crystal Method – Dresden & Johnston are now hard at work on their first full length album.  Their club smash single “Keep Faith” has been steadily climbing the Beatport charts and they are set to release their latest double A side “The Cove / Redhead” on their own Problem Child Rekords, inspired by Rick O’Berry’s moving dolphin conservation documentary – The Cove.  In addition, their work with vocal powerhouse Nadia Ali has been generating serious buzz with inclusions on upcoming compilations from Armin van Buuren and Menno de Jong.  The duo is also set to unveil a new live show incorporating elements of DJing, remixing, and live instrumentation in support of their new material.

Chuckie has been making a name for himself around the world by putting his signature deep, dirty house sound on remixes for David Guetta, Bob Sinclar and Joachim Gaurraud. His talent for building insanely intense climaxes, then delivering devastatingly explosive beats, is no child’s play. Killer original tracks like “Let The Bass Kick” have launched him into the top 10 British Singles Charts and won him praise from Swedish House Mafia, Laidback Luke and Pete Tong. Hot off the heels of his acclaimed Balance series edition and a successful Winter Music Conference debut, forward-thinking Frenchman Agoria is set to embark on his North American tour as he makes his way to the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit. With his recent spell-binding DJ sets at the Balance 16: Agoria release party and at the infamous Sunday School For Degenerates party in Miami, Agoria is now ready to bring his distinct track selection and mixing style to some of North America’s most forward thinking venues. Kicking off in New York City, with stops in Windsor, Detroit, and El Paso, the tour culminates with a much anticipated main stage performance at the10th anniversary of the electronic music festival in Detroit.

Agoria, otherwise known as Sebastien Devaud wasn’t bitten by the dance music bug until he was out of his teens, but once he began hunting imported 12”s from the US and Germany in his native France, there was no turning back. His production career began in 1999, with his debut album Blossom and first compilation following in 2003 – and it was clear even in those early days that a serious new talent was emerging. Blending the throb and groove of deeper, stripped-back techno with a keen sense of musicality, emotion and atmosphere, his is a sound that transcends beyond mere dancefloor disposability. His 2007 At The Controls compilation set a new standard for minimal tech-house with its impeccable programming and seductive mixing.

2010 has marked a banner year for Agoria with the release of Balance 016.
