DANNY HOWELLS
North American Tour 2009
Opening set by
STADENCO

Rhythmism.com teams up with uber-promoters Dance.Here.Now. and the Flawless Sound crew for a special summer closing party with gotham favorite DANNY HOWELLS at Water Taxi Beach (Long Island City) this Sunday, September 27th, 2009. Celebrate the waning days of summer with spectacular views of the midtown Manhattan skyline and 1,002 tons of sand between your toes, as we close out the season!

Danny Howells is one of the few DJs on the scene today that truly has a style of his own. With his passion for all styles of music and infectious personality, Danny has created a unique, eclectic sound that has established him as one of the top DJs in the world. This year, Danny has taken time out of his hectic DJ schedule to combine his vast experience and imperative creative vision to bring us his new, vibrant and forward thinking Dig Deeper imprint.

The label has been specifically designed to showcase Danny’s inspiring new productions and reflect his legendary DJ sets. Danny explains… “I’d wanted to start a label for years, but waited until a time when I felt I could put 100% into it. It was only last year when I realized I was producing at a much higher rate than before, that I knew the time was right.

“The Dig Deeper nights have been going for a long time now, and in a perfect situation it gives me the chance to really delve into the different genres that appeal to me, and it’s that range of music that I want the label to explore. I think that among the releases there will be something for everyone. There’s been such great support so far, and that only makes me want to put out better and better releases.

The labels premier release “September” featuring a Future Beat Alliance remix was extremely significant as it did not only launch the label but it was Danny’s first major output for over five years. The release gained huge support from the likes of DJ luminaries such as Ben Watt, who called it “a proper DJ’s record”; Laurent Garnier, Dubfire and Joris Voorn.

Danny’s second release “Right Off”, a chuggy fusion of deep-disco house with 80s overlays, was a seriously hypnotic track and was lapped up by the likes of Kissy Sell Out, DJ Hell, Justin Robertson and Ashley Beedle. The Faze Action remix complemented this release perfectly and was a great addition to the label.

Danny’s third offering was the eagerly anticipated deep house groover “The Shining”. The original first saw the light of day on Danny’s illustrious Renaissance mix CD which was one of Renaissance’s highest selling albums of 2008! This tidy single package featured a couple of amazing remixes from Stryke and was played by Desyn Massielo, Nick Warren and ATFC.

Danny’s fourth release, “Flight Home”, which includes a drum n bass remix from Matrix. The original is a lovely down-tempo number with sophisticated ambient sounds; but for those who like their music a little grittier, the Matrix mix really steps up to the plate. A dirty bassline and orchestral overlays transport this beautiful track to the dark, sweaty dancefloors and was greatly received by the likes of Nu Tone, Danny Bird and Blame.

Danny’s most recent fifth release is the impressive, “Laid Back/Breaks”. The EP’s lead track “Laid Back” oozes class with a smooth funk driven bassline, hypnotic chord stabs and a dreamy melodic leadline. Tom Budden heads up a solid re-rub and a Flat Out Drum Edit is included for all of those who like it stripped back just to the essentials. “Breaks” completes this comprehensive release which has gained glowing praise from the likes of Jody Wisternoff, Hernan Cattaneo and Gabriel Ananda.

With every release offering something slightly different and packaged in colourful eye catching imagery, Danny has created an outlet which displays his versatility and character to stand-out from the crowd and compliment his infamous Dig Deeper philosophy.

There is plenty more to come from Danny Howells, so come with us as he Digs Deeper for the ultimate summer closing party. See you on the beach!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dave Dresden

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Made Event presents
DAVE DRESDEN

(GABRIEL & DRESDEN)
With AlterImage

San Francisco’s Dave Dresden is fast making Cielo NYC his second home, and he returns to close out the summer on Friday, September 25th.

For the last 15 years he’s committed himself to music with a career spanning every aspect of the industry, working as a DJ, journalist, A&R, radio music director, and remixer. A master at weaving prog-house grooves that are cool enough for the serious heads, yet muscular enough to generate some much-needed street appeal, Dresden’s sets similarly mix ‘n’ match the new with the old, and the underground with the crossover.

Dave has kept a frantic pace in the studio since his last performance at Cielo. He and his production co-hort Mikael Johnston have been hard at work on numerous original songs. Two massive vocal tracks are the big story from their summer in the studio including “Keep Faith” which features the voice of newcomer Mezo Riccio and “That Day” which is a duet between Nadia Ali and Johnston. The future sees Dresden & Johnston putting all these pieces together and more for their debut album which they would like to have completed by WMC 2010. Be ready to hear a lot of new sounds and fan favorites to round out Dave Dresden’s 2009 Cielo NYC residency.

Made Event presents
JAMIE JONES
‘Don’t You Remember The Future’ Album Release Tour
with Orchard Lounge
@ Cielo

Made Event presents groove master Jamie Jones at Cielo on Thursday, September 24, 2009. There are some talents that remain inconspicuous and then there are some you canʼt ignore. Jamie Jones is the latter, quickly rising to superstar status in underground dance circles over recent years. Releases on Cocoon, Get Physical and BPitch have catapulted him to become a cult figure and he is widely admired for his true originality.

From his debut single “Amazon”, to his latest anthem “Summertime”, his unique sound has won him worldwide audiences and this album has been widely anticipated as one to change the face of the current house music spectrum.

With his debut LP ʻDonʼt You Remember The Futureʼ, Jamie Jones delivers an album of  “intergalactic techno house, where old school prince meets cybertron.” A seamlessly blended up-tempo mix filled with eerie and energetic moments.

Featuring ten brand new tracks from Jamie Jones, alongside this year’s dancefloor anthem “Summertime” and the current “Galactic Space Bar” – which features the vocals of Egyptian Lover – the albumʼs twelve tracks are stitched together in an entangled web of beats and bleeps, available digitally as separate edits.

The concept of the album is the idea that this is the year 2116, when music has  become some kind of controlled means of manipulating humans, and the rebellion consists of artist like myself who are hiding underground creating sounds that  explore outside that control.” Jamie Jones

Jamie Jones has achieved in a few short years what some strive for in a lifetime. ʻDonʼt You Remember The Futureʼ marks the next step in his journey, becoming an artist to be remembered and one that has brought the future into the present.

ʻDonʼt You Remember The Futureʼ is out now on Crosstown Rebels.

ELECTRIC ZOO
26,000 Electronic Music Fans Gather in NYC Over Labor Day Weekend

Electric Zoo this past Labor Day weekend was a rousing success; blessed with good weather, stellar tunes and an appetite for electronic music from the masses.  Made Event announced Saturday attendance #s of 15,000 and Sunday attendance #s of 11,000 – for a total of 26,000 throughout the weekend! With over 67 artists from 13 countries, the festival was truly an electronic mosaic of today’s global dance music culture.

Electric Zoo was an incredible first festival for us,” said Made Event’s Laura De Palma & Mike Bindra. “The natural beauty of Randall’s Island Park, the wide selection of musical choices, and the excitement of fellow beat junkies, all culminated in a successful inaugural festival. We look forward to bringing it for many years to come.

Sirius XM Radio broadcasted live all weekend from Electric Zoo on AREA (SIRIUS channel 38 and XM channel 80) to their 36 million audience.  All across the nation, listeners were able to groove to live sets and interviews with superstar DJ artists, producers and remixers, including; David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Ferry Corsten, Robbie Rivera, ATB, and much more! Due to popular demand, tune in next weekend on Sirius XM for the exclusive re-broadcast, “Electric Zoo-Back to the Zoo” on September 18 – 20.

Electric Zoo thanks all the festival goers who make an event like this possible – here’s to the start of something special.

***

Electric Zoo was the best gig I’ve ever played in NYC.  The whole festival was just fantastic, the fans were so ecstatic and I was so happy to be there.  Whoever says that there is not a dance music scene in the United States is wrong, there is definitely a big scene that is constantly growing and Electric Zoo is a great example.  I can’t wait to come back and play in New York again!” – David Guetta

It was so refreshing to finally see an event of this size take place in our hometown. I do not remembering seeing so many beaming, smiling faces in the same  place celebrating their love of music. A perfect end to this Summer. Much props to the entire crew at Made Event for making  this happen so flawlessly, and here’s hoping that it will become one of our institutions for years to come!” – François K

This is really special. I think NY has been crying out for this for a long, long time. And obviously it’s all happening. The production is phenomenal, the hospitality is exceptional. I can only say great things about this because so far it’s all been perfect, all boxes ticked!“  – Tom Middleton

I was excited to see a purely electronic festival in New York City. To my knowledge the first of its kind and was a success. A big triumph for the big apple.” –Steve Aoki

Made Event presents SANDER VAN DOORN & JOHN DAHLBÄCK @ Pacha NYC – September 18th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Made Event presents
SANDER VAN DOORN
JOHN DAHLBÄCK
@ Pacha NYC

Made Event presents Dutch DJ sensation Sander Van Doorn and Sweden’s rising star John Dahlbäck at Pacha NYC on Friday, September 18, 2009.

From the start Sander Van Doorn (and his alter egos; Sam Sharp, Purple Haze, Filterfunk & Sandler) has produced a variety of sounds at a level that only most producers can dream of, combining elements of trance, electro, techno and house constantly blowing away his fans and comrades, while keeping us guessing about what’s will be next. His debut artist album Supernaturalistic was released in 2008 to rave reviews and launched a global album tour. He followed this by winning the coveted prize of ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at WMC’s IDMA, where he also received a nomination for ‘Best Underground Track’ with ‘Riff’.  He is one of the most in-demand genre crossing producers of his generation, regularly picking up support from DJ’s like Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Tiesto and Carl Cox .  Not content with taking the world by storm with his productions, Sander’s DJ skills are a force to be reckoned with. Every year sees Sander playing to over one million clubbers. He consistently headlines huge events from Sensation to Global Gathering, from Trance Energy and Mysteryland through to his high profile summer residency at Cream in Ibiza. With his accomplishments at such an early stage for, it’s easy to see where this man’s career is heading – No.1.

Swedish electro chief John Dahlbäck is still in his early twenties, but he’s had more releases than girlfriends with a singles discography edging ever closer to the hundred mark by the week. Even from an early age, John was learning the basics on his dad’s Atari computer and he soon established his own style, which blossomed into becoming one of the best young producers to date. Not soon after his initial success, he knew it was time to take the next step. Together with his cousin Jesper Dahlbäck, they produced under the moniker Hugg & Pepp to huge acclaim and launched their own Pickadoll imprint, boasting top releases from Özgur Can, Sebastien Leger, Dada Life, Zoo Brazil, Robbie Rivera, Laidback Luke and Style of Eye.
