Sunday School For Degenerates is readying itself for a marathon session of massive proportions. Sunday School tickets will be valid for the full 24 hours and include a re-entry wristband. Get the party started right: Come by early to pick up your wristband and have a Degenerate drink on the house during the early OPEN BAR (11pm-12am) and be sure to catch the exclusive live set from Detroit’s new breed Ryan Crosson with his percussive programming, dubby basslines, and dark atmospheres. The Ice Palace is located close to the nightclub district, so you can make the rounds. Or, like a true Degenerate, stay for the duration as class will be in session all night and day, with a line-up that is sure to school you.

NEW ARTISTS & EXCLUSIVES
NYC’s techno femme fatale DJ Connie leads off the night, followed by Ryan Crosson’s exclusive live set and Poker Flat artist Argy, for his long-awaited U.S. debut after last year’s visa snafu. Then, Turkey’s first real techno export Onur Özer will play his exclusive Miami set for another U.S. debut! Özer’s talents have made him one of the most critically acclaimed names in electronic music rising out of the most oriental parts of Europe. Germany’s Martin Buttrich returns with his midas touch for another explosive live set replete with his own golden productions. On the eve of his stunning CD kaleidoscope Balance 014, Joris Voorn joins the fray with his exclusive Miami performance. The future of DJing may lie in Voorn’s ability to simultaneously mix multiple tracks at once into entirely new soundscapes. Finally, Sunday School favorite Cassy returns for another indelible set to celebrate the final hours of degeneracy.

ABOUT ICE PALACE
Both the indoor and outdoor spaces will feature a complete sound system installed and engineered by Integral Sound, now tantamount with the highest quality. At night, the lobby will be transformed into the Degenerates den with a wood beam ceiling encasing a wonderfully warm sound with an adjacent open-air terrace. In the early morning, the 30,000 square foot Ice Palace lawn will be a green grass playground with seating, hammocks, a coconut tree vista, and plenty of shade. There will be a full bar available for the entire 24 hours, along with food available for purchase, including vegetarian options. Get ready for the one party to rule them all!

Steve Porter Releases The Control EP
In Advance of New LP This Spring

As a DJ and Producer, Steve Porter is at the top of his game. With a non-stop international touring schedule, prolific productions and inimitable DJ style, Porter is setting the bar high for the next generation of electronic dance music artists. His latest, The Control EP is the prelude to his upcoming, second full length artist album due out in late Spring 2009.

This Winter Music Conference, Porter will join the BACARDI® B-LIVE™ press launch event, along with innovative artists A-Trak, Dilpo, and MSTRKRFT to be held at the Fontainebleau Resort on Thursday, March 26th in Miami. On Friday, March 27th, Porter will join his AM Only agency’s annual showcase with today’s biggest dance music stars with a special tag-team set with Funkagenda at Karu & Y. To culminate the conference week, Porter will helm his annual PH recordings showcase at B.E.D. Miami on Saturday, March 28th. He will be joined by his roster of label artists and special guest DJ Dan, one of the pioneers of the west coast house explosion throughout the 90s to the present day wave of electro and indie dance. Today, DJ Dan continues to push the envelope as he brings his exclusive cuts to the PH party from his debut artist album entitled Future Retro.

Steve Porter’s The Control EP is a collection of surefire club hits as eclectic in style as a typical night behind the decks.  Staying true to his philosophy and demonstrating his versatility The Control EP seamlessly mixes several genres while maintaining the dance floor edge that drives the dancefloor into a frenzy. In addition to its peak time title track, the EP also contains the house/breakbeat mash up “Don’t Be Afrayed”, the electro influenced “Fake It”, as well as the appropriately titled “Rizer”.

Steve Porter stands among the most talented of the next generation of electronic dance music artists. Over his career, Porter has showcased his prolific DJ style encompassing a genre defying mix of funked up house beats and techy jams mixed together with an arsenal of re-edits and mixes, which propelled him into the international arena and landed him on DJ Times’ list of “America’s Best DJs.” His own label PH Recordings focuses on introducing new artists from his own collective of Boston artists, other emerging global acts and as an outlet for his own prolific, cutting edge productions. Outside of the DJ booth, Porter has just signed on to produce two more original tracks for Konami’s next DanceDanceRevolution game and is also shooting a pilot episode for the Travel Channel where he’ll be serving as host to introduce global dance culture around the world. Steve Porter can also be heard on his weekly Porterhouse show on Sirius XM Satellite radio’s Area channel.

The Control EP is out now exclusively at Beatport on PH Recordings.

The Club World Awards Call Off Ceremony, Call In Prize Patrol

The Club World Awards Call Off Ceremony,
Call In The Prize Patrol
Disco Globes To Be Handed Out During Winter Music Conference Week

For the first time since its inception in 2003, the Club World Awards program will not be hosting a star-studded, super-fun ceremony this year. Blame Bush, blame Obama, blame God. Or just blame the economy.

It’s a situation we know that others are in as well: We just don’t have the resources to support our usual shindig,” says Club World producer Kerri Mason. “And there’s nothing worse than a half-ass party.”

But fear not: The Club World Awards – which reward nightlife excellence in 25 categories – will be handed out in Miami. Winners will be visited by the CWA “Prize Patrol” throughout Winter Music Conference week, and given their disco globes by hand.

As in previous years, nominees were selected by the editorial staff of Club World magazine, and winners were selected by a staff of 10 industry-expert judges. Together, the panel has over two centuries of experience in the nightlife business (see full list below).

But does this mark the end of fun and fair awards ceremonies in Miami?

Don’t worry,” says Mason. “Just like the stock market, we’ll be back.”

About The Club World Awards 2009
The Club World Awards, the United States’ definitive nightlife awards program includes individuals and companies nominated in 21 categories, ranging from Best Superclub to Best DJ Product. They represent the gold-standard in clubbing in this country’s major nightlife metropolises, as well as those in smaller markets and several located abroad. Nominees were selected from the largest submission pool in the Awards’ seven-year history – making this the most competitive year yet. This year’s program features established brands that continued to innovate, vying with up-and-comers for the coveted disco globes. As a result, drama is packed into every category (see full list below).

About Club World
Club World, is the only magazine devoted to the look, sound, and feel of nightclubs. Launched in July 2000 as Club Systems International, the bi-monthly publication covers the world’s best venues from technical, business, and aesthetic perspectives.
