Made Event presents
SAVE THE CANNIBALS
featuring
ADULTNAPPER &

BRUNO PRONSATO (live)

Made Event continues strong into the New Year with the second installment of NYC’s newest techno weekly – Save the Cannibals. At the helm of this week’s edition is Brooklyn’s own Techno philosopher ADULTNAPPER and Berlin transplant, by way of Seattle, sound scientist BRUNO PRONSATO.  Come join the madness that kicked off with Steve Bug last week as we venture into the heart of techno. This week all dinner guests can sign up to be added to the Save the Cannibals Reduced List for $15 ADMISSION BEFORE 12:30AM. The upstairs at Rebel will provide the intimacy of a small dance boite, along with exceptional sound with a complete new sound system installed and engineered by Integral Sound.

NYC’s arch tech selector ADULTNAPPER is a shadowy figure drawn from the dark reaches of Francis Harris’ imagination. His introspective productions defy convention, relying instead on a sophisticated, song-based approach, marked by elaborate swung micro-rhythms, thick musical baselines, complex arrangements and haunting tonal melodies. As a DJ, primarily on vinyl, Harris employs precision skills and thoughtful programming to expand upon Adultnapper’s sonic territory, earning him turns on the world’s most discerning dancefloors with his trademark emotion-laden rides. In 2007, Harris launched his enigmatic Ransom Note label which features the deeper side of Adultnapper alongside some of his favorite contemporaries, many drawn from his Brooklyn environs. The first three releases have featured challenging musical contributions from Alexi Delano, Camea, Matt Tolfrey & Inxec. Ransom Note’s sub-label Footnote exposes the raw house side of Adultnapper’s world with outings so far by Beat Pharmacy, Nick Chacona, Tommy Bones, (a)pendics.shuffle, Mikael Stravostrand, Holmar Filipsson and Rekleiner. Next up is Brendon Moeller/Beat Pharmacy under his Echologist guise with “The Score,” which lands on vinyl with remixes by Adultnapper & Jus Ed in mid-February, and on digital with a bonus cut in March. 2009 will see both labels widen their roster with releases lined up by Jay Tripwire, Touane, Anthony Parasole & Fred P./Black Jazz Consortium, Theodor Zox and Vincenzo, while Adultnapper continues his prolific studio work with additional releases due on Clink Recordings, Crosstown Rebels Digital and his debut on Poker Flat Recordings.

Joining Adultnapper for this techno journey is BRUNO PRONSATO with a special live performance.  Pronsato’s mix of playful yet rigorous music has brought him to all corners of the techno universe. Following his latest fantastic album “Why Can’t We Be Like Us”, Bruno releases another timeless pearl, magical vocal track “Nobody Calls” on label Hello?Repeat. On the flip side, a fairly dirty track called “Where’d You Learn To Kiss That Way” gets a little gritty with a uniquely deep, glorious atmosphere. Over the years, Bruno has released music on prestigious techno imprints such as Orac, Musique Risquee, Milnor Modern, Telegraph, Philpot, and Perlon, and in 2007 he found his way into techno’s epicenter, Berlin and formed Half Hawaii with Perlon’s Sammy Dee. Regardless of geography one thing is certain, Bruno’s music constantly pushes the boundaries of techno and experimental while always remaining undeniably danceable.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dave Dresden

Friday, January 30th, 2009
Made Event presents
DAVE DRESDEN
(Gabriel & Dresden)

Made Event presents DAVE DRESDEN (formerly of Gabriel & Dresden) for his return to Cielo on Friday, January 30th, 2009.

The start of 2009 brings Dresden’s exclusive New York residency with Made Event. Since going solo, Dave Dresden has been busy in the studio with a new remix for UK songstress Lily Allen’s “The Fear”. He is also currently producing his first full-length artist album as well as lending his talents to productions on Morgan Page’s new album, including new track “I’ve Had Friends”.

Back in 2001, Dave Dresden partnered with Josh Gabriel to form the internationally successful DJ/production duo, Gabriel & Dresden. Soon after the group formed, they gained recognition through their numerous remixes for dance tracks including Tiesto’s “In My Memory” and pop titles including “Don’t Leave Home” by Dido and “Intuition” and “Serve the Ego” by Jewel. Their first single, “Lament”, was released to much critical acclaim in 2002 on Satoshi Tomiie’s Saw Recordings. In 2006, their self titled debut studio album was named as the “2006 Album of the Year” by M8 magazine.

Dresden’s contribution to the duo led to 18 No. 1 positioned singles and remixes (and two others with both Chris Cox and Attention Deficit) on Billboard’s Club Play Chart. The worldwide smash hit which Dresden released with Josh and Motorcycle, “As the Rush Comes,” hit the #1 spot on the US’s Dance Radio Airplay chart in 2004 and No. 11 in the UK national singles chart. As DJs, Gabriel & Dresden reached No. 20 on the prestigious DJ Magazine Poll for 2006 and Best American DJ in 2007 and 2008 at the Annual Winter Music Conference International Dance Music Awards. Gabriel & Dresden parted ways in March 2008.

Made Event presents

JIMMY VAN M
w/ AlterImage

Made Event presents the long awaited return of JIMMY VAN M to New York City at Cielo on Thursday, January 22nd with AlterImage.

There are only a handful of people in the world who have the drive to tackle all of the work Jimmy Van M has done for electronic music. Since the inception of his career he’s had that passion that sets him apart from others. His strength as a DJ comes from the many years he’s had behind the decks. Since 1992 he’s invented his own vision and his own way of manipulating and delivering on the dancefloor. Early in his day’s as a Twilo resident with Sasha & John Digweed (1996-2000), Jimmy’s seamless, yet effortless style has cemented him as one of the best DJ’s for starting the night off. Together they heralded in a new era of clubbing to the masses. A night of adventure became years of fun, which in turn became the legendary Delta Heavy tour in 2001. It was the first and only rockstar DJ Tour to take place in America with Jimmy kicking off each night, easing everything into place perfectly, setting the mood with his finesse and finest tunes. As brilliant of a warm up DJ as he is, one cannot underestimate his ability to deliver peaktime slots in the biggest clubs around the world.

Jimmy Van M has built a reputation on being among the most patient and sophisticated DJs to be found globally…from his opening sets to his peak-time club sessions and all the way through to the after-hours parties that he’s become so famous for. His ability to deliver music ranging from the deepest of early morning sessions to the most banging and driving peak-hour main-room affairs has placed him in seemingly unlimited and ever-delightful company throughout the world. It remains as one of the most distinguishing features of this very urbane and global performer that, for him, the music must move and then move on. When it comes to atmosphere, vibe and drive there are very few DJs that can stand alongside Jimmy Van M. Whether it’s putting together a cross-country tour, programming innovative and forward thinking g dance music or DJing to thunderous masses anywhere from Buenos Aires to Tokyo he is one of the most characteristic performers to be found anywhere.

Made Event presents Sébastien Léger @ Cielo – January 9th

Friday, January 9th, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sebastian Leger

Friday, January 9th, 2009
Made Event Presents
Sébastien Leger

w/ Sleepy & Boo

Made Event presents the highly anticipated return of French DJ/Producer/Remixer extraordinaire, Sébastien Leger, at Cielo on Friday, January 9th, 2009

Over the last decade Sébastien Léger has become one of France’s most revered DJ/producers. Eschewing the more obvious French filter house clichés his productions have taken on the robust dancefloor edge of his beloved Chicago house heroes and twisted them into his own electronic masterpieces. Léger continues to remain focused on developing his own sound via his own imprint Mistakes Music that is indelibly stamped with his trademark electro, techno-funk sound. The label has gone from strength to strength across the last few releases culminating in the superb David West and Inkfish release and with the latest “Majestic EP”. The stunning EP contains two new Léger originals “Majestic” and “Majuro” and a remix by Deadmau5 of one of Sebastien’s older hit tracks “Bad Clocks.” On the horizon, be on the lookout for a new original Léger track with a Marilyn Mansion sample to be released on Pryda Recordings with additional remix duties by Eric Prydz. Leger is also continuing work on the remixer front with his remix of Deadmau5’s track “SLIP” out this month on Mau5trap Recordings.

Parallel to building his international DJ career Sébastien Léger is currently working on a new live show. As a consequence of his continued progression in his production work, the great variety of house music colour in his tracks, the construction and arrangement of his electro and funk-infused rhythms, the now Amsterdam based Sébastien Léger is poised at the forefront of the global electronic movement.
