Made Event presents

THE GLIMMERS

Free debut album Gee Gee Fazzi to the first 300 people through the door!

Made Event presents Belgian disco dons The Glimmers at Cielo on Friday, September 26th, 2008. The first 300 people to arrive will receive a free copy of their debut artist album Gee Gee Fazzi – not available in stores!

The Glimmers (Mo Becha and David Fouquaert) produce sublime dance mixes that have become revelations for the modern clubbing era. With a series of international highly acclaimed mix albums for DJ Kicks, Eskimo, and the highly-touted FabricLive series, they’ve also remixed Bloc Party, The Killers, New Order, Roxy Music, Isolee, Phoenix, Pop Del Arte, Snow Patrol, Calvin Harris, Shocking Pinks, Mylo, Shirley Bassey and The Chemical Brother, as well as creating dozens of original tracks reflecting their taste for a deep, metronomic, groove-laden experience, known as Belgian New Beat. Their parties are laden with an amalgamation of new beat, funk, dub, house, techno, party hip hop, new wave and edgy post-punk disco, basically anything made-to-order for the dancefloor.

Now, The Glimmers finally have their debut album Gee Gee Fazzi ready for the masses. Flaunting record label conventions the duo are taking control and distributing the album for free at their club dates. Titled Gee Gee Fazzi after a track by ex-Yello member Carlos Peron, the album promises to be as eclectic as The Glimmers record collection with collaborations with Princess Superstar, Freeform Five, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas, Optimo Espacio, Kenneth Bager, Ray Mang, Foxylane, Baby G, CJ Bolland and many more. MICHAEL MAYER (Kompakt)

& SUPERPITCHER (Kompakt)

Supermayer will save the world. Again.

Look out! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Supermayer! The dynamic super duo of two of Kompakt Record’s brightest stars, Michael Mayer and Superpitcher (aka Askel Shaufler) join forces to save the world again at Santos Party House on Thursday, September 25th.

This lighthearted combo of minimal masterminds came together to form a bond to boldly go where they had not gone before. Inspired by their interests in using a wide variety of musical genres, they created the collaborative production team called Supermayer. This spunky and charmingly playful group came out with the album “Save the World” in 2007. Supermayer has created a sonically diverse style that ranges from grinding techno to electro-pop by blending the use of electronic and organic instruments. Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Our high pedigree heroes are able to leap to new levels of audio bliss with a single bound, creating adoring audiences across the globe. All this is achieved under the label of Kompakt, one of the most prolific and respected labels in the industry. Not flinching in taking risks, the fearless duo sonically experiment with enough pounding dance beats, stratospheric synth washes, and electrified robot voices in their arsenal to slay even the most stubborn of rhythm-haters. Supermayer describe their music as “sexy, deep, dark, dangerous, and sometimes a bit jolly.” This heavy hitting team of Kompakt’s reveled professionals have their mission statement firmly established and will continue to circle the universe with the cure for common techno. This will be a much anticipated, out of this world event that humanity cannot afford to miss!

Pacha NYC presents JOHN DIGWEED with CHRIS FORTIER - September 19th

JOHN DIGWEED

Along with

CHRIS FORTIER

Pacha NYC presents UK superstar DJ JOHN DIGWEED on tour for his recent Transitions Vol. 4 album on Friday, September 19th, 2008 for an unforgettable night with one of the world’s finest musical selectors.

John Digweed concludes the first chapter of his Transitions series with the highly anticipated fourth volume Transitions Vol. 4.  “I’ve developed the amount of tracks and layering over the series,” says Digweed, “And we’ve taken it to the next level with this latest volume, it’s the most intense and intrinsic yet, which meant replacements, additions, editing and a lot of time consuming assessments and re-assessments.” Over the course of 22 tracks and 73 minutes John weaves a unique musical thread. From favourites such as Ink & Needle, Guy J and Pig & Dan through to welcome debuts from Henry Saiz, Myers Briggs or Soliquid, all are concisely constructed in the mix to the point where 3 are often playing at anyone time. In fact, due the resulting complexity, John decided to re-structure the trackmark points to better reflect the more developed passages – and so twenty two records became ten for one of the most original compilations you’ll hear this year and a fitting finale to the series in its current guise.

John Digweed – Transitions Vol.4 is out now on Ultra Records.

French lucky boys burn the Santos’ house!

The last two weeks of Ete d’Amour are upon us! French electronic music label Ed Banger Records takes over Santos Party House with label head honcho Busy P and DJ Mehdi on Thursday, September 18th at downtown’s newest nightlife destination.

Founded in 2002, Ed Banger records rose to dramatic fame under the helm of influential Pedro Winters (formerly Daft Punk’s manager) with a number of artists exploding onto the nu-rave-electro-house-indie-disco-rock scene, most notably with French electronic group Justice and their remix of Simian’s “Never Be Alone.” The music video for the single, Justice vs. Simian - “We Are Your Friends” won the award for best video at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006. The label is also home to burgeoning French sensations Sebastian, Uffie, Krazy Baldhead, DJ Mehdi, Mr Oizo, Mr Flash, Vicarious Bliss, So Me, Feadz, DSL, Mickey Moonlight, and Winter himself, under the alias Busy P.

ÂME (Frank Wiedermann)

BOOMBASS (from Cassius)

Ete D’Amour is counting down to its last four weeks of the summer of love!  On Thursday, September 11th, we bring together two-halves to create a greater whole. Frank Wiederman, one-half of Âme, the soulful, deep house duo from Berlin joins Parisian hip-hop evangelist Boombass, one-half of Cassius at Santos Party House.

Âme are German duo Kristian Beyer & Frank Wiedemann. Inspired by the music of Stevie Wonder, West End Rec, Transmat, Weather Report and Herbie Hancock, they make Detroit-influenced deep house and music with soul. Now Âme is gearing up to launch Fabric 42, the vaulted club-mix series this Fall 2008.  On the highly anticipated compilation, Âme create a kaleidoscopic blend of electronics and infectious grooves. They have created their own soundscape here with an all-star cast, which breathes a magical soundtrack to the last days of summer and beyond.

Hubert Blanc-Francart, better known as Boombass, is one half of the highly acclaimed duo Cassius (with Philippe Zdar), who have occupied the upper echelons of French electronica since1999.  Hubert has been a tireless evangelist of hip hop, producing MC Solaar’s milestone album, Qui Seme Le Vent Recolte Le Tempo in the early Nineties, which was the first peak in a wave of dance music hip-hop, house, drum & bass, reggae and techno that now dominates the French charts. The legendary Parisian electro-house duo Cassius have since released their third studio album 15 Again in 2006 featuring the international dancefloor smash “Toop Toop”, the soulful “Rock Number One” and the Pharrell Williams collaboration “Eye Water”.

The one and only Respect party is back in New York with its club festival ÉTÉ D’AMOUR, to celebrate the summer! A long overdue comeback to the NYC nightlife landscape, Respect unites with Le Jean De and first-class promoters Made Event for a sizzling summer series destined to reclaim downtown nightlife for NYC’s own ÉTÉ D’AMOUR. Expect a twist of legendary DJs, fresh sounds, new sensations, incessant flirting, and lots of romance.
