Pacha NYC presents JOHN DIGWEED with CHRIS FORTIER – September 19th, 2008

Friday, September 19th, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

John Digweed

Friday, September 19th, 2008
Pacha NYC presents
JOHN DIGWEED
along with
CHRIS FORTIER

Pacha NYC welcomes back UK superstar DJ JOHN DIGWEED with his forward-thinking, fresh, driving, hypnotic, melodious house music on Friday, September 19th, 2008 for an unforgettable night with one of the finest musical selectors, along with longtime cohort Chris Fortier of Fade Records.

To coincide with the tenth anniversary of Bedrock parties in London, UK and the fast approaching 10th anniversary of Bedrock Records; John Digweed releases the triple-disc mix ‘Bedrock 10 Past present and future` through his own Bedrock Records. Compiling and mixing a stunning collection of remixes that shine new light on the label’s back catalogue alongside the cuts that are currently representing the distinguished Bedrock sound.

From its inception in Hastings during the mid-nineties and subsequent progression to Heaven on 8th October 1998 the Bedrock parties have consistently been a byword for forward-thinking, underground electronic music that attracted the absolute cream of national and international DJ’ing talent. Reaching far further than it’s UK-based home, Bedrock has touched down at festivals and club nights across the globe, with America, Japan, Ibiza, Romania, Australia and Dubai just a few of those countries lucky enough to absorb the full Bedrock experience.

Around the same time as those initial parties at Heaven, John set about creating a label that would fit the ethos of the club night’s innovative and cutting edge music policy and Bedrock Records was born. Even in it’s embryonic stage around 1999 the imprint seemed destined to set the dance music stratosphere ablaze with its maiden release ‘Heaven Scent’ garnering an almost unanimous ‘instant classic’ billing. The highlights to date have been almost innumerable but Science Departments ‘Persuasion/Repercussion’, Steve Lawler’s ‘Rise In’ and Saint’s and Sinner’s ‘Pushin’ Too Hard’ and Guy Gerbers ‘Stoppage Time’ as well as albums from Pole Folder and Suicide Sports Club have all provided some truly standout moments. More recently the future of the label has been masterfully entrusted to Israeli wonder-kid Guy J, who’s soon to be released debut artist album ‘Esperanza’ serves as a fantastic snapshot of where Bedrock Records is at in 2008.

So to ‘Bedrock 10 Past present and Future’ and to honour this massive occasion John has drafted in a careful selection of remix heavyweights to shed new light on some of the labels biggest tracks along with a tidy fistful of the labels freshest output all blended to perfection in the inimitable John Digweed mixing style.

Supermayer will save the world. Again.

Look out! It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Supermayer! The dynamic super duo of two of Kompakt Record’s brightest stars, Michael Mayer and Superpitcher (aka Askel Shaufler) join forces to save the world again at Santos Party House on Thursday, September 25th.

This lighthearted combo of minimal masterminds came together to form a bond to boldly go where they had not gone before. Inspired by their interests in using a wide variety of musical genres, they created the collaborative production team called Supermayer. This spunky and charmingly playful group came out with the album “Save the World” in 2007. Supermayer has created a sonically diverse style that ranges from grinding techno to electro-pop by blending the use of electronic and organic instruments. Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Our high pedigree heroes are able to leap to new levels of audio bliss with a single bound, creating adoring audiences across the globe. All this is achieved under the label of Kompakt, one of the most prolific and respected labels in the industry. Not flinching in taking risks, the fearless duo sonically experiment with enough pounding dance beats, stratospheric synth washes, and electrified robot voices in their arsenal to slay even the most stubborn of rhythm-haters. Supermayer describe their music as “sexy, deep, dark, dangerous, and sometimes a bit jolly.” This heavy hitting team of Kompakt’s reveled professionals have their mission statement firmly established and will continue to circle the universe with the cure for common techno. This will be a much anticipated, out of this world event that humanity cannot afford to miss!

French lucky boys burn the Santos’ house!

The last two weeks of Ete d’Amour are upon us! French electronic music label Ed Banger Records takes over Santos Party House with label head honcho Busy P and DJ Mehdi on Thursday, September 18th at downtown’s newest nightlife destination.

Founded in 2002, Ed Banger records rose to dramatic fame under the helm of influential Pedro Winters (formerly Daft Punk’s manager) with a number of artists exploding onto the nu-rave-electro-house-indie-disco-rock scene, most notably with French electronic group Justice and their remix of Simian’s “Never Be Alone.” The music video for the single, Justice vs. Simian – “We Are Your Friends” won the award for best video at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006. The label is also home to burgeoning French sensations Sebastian, Uffie, Krazy Baldhead, DJ Mehdi, Mr Oizo, Mr Flash, Vicarious Bliss, So Me, Feadz, DSL, Mickey Moonlight, and Winter himself, under the alias Busy P.
