Renown New York City nightclub CIELO celebrates 5 years of excellence this January as it continues to bring an unparalleled roster of world-class DJs, diverse musical programming, and superior sound & ambiance in an intimate club setting. All year-round electronic music aficionados from around the globe make pilgrimages to Cielo to experience the quintessential New York nightclub. The fifth anniversary will be celebrated year-round with a series of events to commemorate this industry milestone. To commence the festivities, a fete hosted by Veuve Clicquot will be held on Friday, January 25th, 2008 with an exclusive DVD, limited edition t-shirt and music by Ibiza icon DJ Pippi and Cielo’s own Nicolas Matar.
Cielo sets a higher standard in the ultimate nightlife experience by bringing together the best DJs with stunning décor & lighting, as well as a stellar custom-designed soundsystem by Funktion-One. In addition to being the nerve center of electronic music in North America, Cielo has been the backdrop for many major Hollywood films, commercials, charitable benefits, live shows, and record release parties.
As demonstrated by the unprecedented number of awards and nominations the club currently boasts, Cielo has established itself as an international brand with an edict of outstanding electronic music. Since opening in 2003, Cielo has featured a legendary roster of DJ residencies including: Francois K’s Deep Space Mondays, Louie Vega & Kevin Hedge’s Roots Wednesdays, Willie Graff’s Playtime Fridays, and Nicolas Matar’s Paradizo Saturdays. The superior programming continues with regular fixtures such as: Secret Sessions with Roger Sanchez, Junior Vasquez, Pure Behrouz, Vibal with Tedd Patterson, Turntables on the Hudson, Defected Records, Deep with Marques Wyatt, Demon Days with Carl Craig, and Giant Step nights with artists such as Ben Watt, Giles Peterson, and Jazzanova.
This Spring/Summer, the 5th installment in the highly-acclaimed Cielo compilation series will be released worldwide. This will be preceded by a special Japan-only Cielo CD, mixed by co-owner/resident Nicolas Matar, accompanied by a promotional tour throughout Japan. In celebration of the anniversary, Cielo plans to take its superb sound on the road in 2008 with tour dates across the globe.
